Bringing in some structure. Are Saudi and Michelin perfect for each other? Instagram Channels. A bumper week for Eats, Writes & Substack Reads. So sit back & enjoy a little Something for the Weekend.
Legend! Thanks for the mention. Curious about the Saudi's Michelin bid. Maybe I live under a rock but don't they absolutely need the booze margin for anything to be viable there?
Just reflected on the fact that most of the restaurants in the Michelin Guide in Dubai for example serve alcohol. Without this profit center, does it make sense for Saudi to be this bullish? Restaurants surely will end up cutting corners without fat booze margins.
Great piece Liam and thanks so much for the mention, very much appreciated. Did you hear about the Australian government knocking back a proposal from Michelin. I found a report in Delicious magazine in Australia that said, 'the Michelin Guide was asking for $4 million last financial year, with that cost to increase to five million this financial year, and then to $7.5 million each financial year for the rest of this decade.' That's a lot of money!

That IS a lot of money and, also, kudos to Australian Delicious for that story!
Amused Bouches FTW! Love the name.
Thank you! I toyed with a few, but this one stuck.
